Hangars 811, 821 and Squadron Building 819

These are the last two of the four similar squadron hangars. The
smaller squadron building between the hangars was used by the
various bomb squadrons for briefings, training and de-briefings.

The squadrons of teh 457th bomb group were assigned to Wendover
in December 1943. After training at these facilities, they were assigned
to Glatton Army Airbase,
60 miles north of London.
They distingushed themselves
flying bombing missions over
Germany.

Twenty additional bomb groups
trained here. A bomb group
generally consisted of 72 flight
crews, divided into four squadrons.
